Documenting Change: Photo Reports from Social Impact Missions

Photo reportage on the Malodor and Sanitation Behaviors in Low-Income Settlements project, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, in collaboration with Archipel&Co.

40% of the world’s population—2.5 billion people—still lack access to safe sanitation. To address this, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation partnered with Firmenich to develop a malodor counteractant technology, enhancing user experience and supporting Sustainable Development Goal #6.2. During a field study in India, where I captured photographs and videos, local interviewers trained by Archipel&Co. gathered insights from target communities.

Photo reportage on the Electric Mobility project funded by Group Renault, in collaboration with Archipel&Co.

This initiative aimed to introduce public electric transport in rural Dakar. As I photographed and video recorded the process, we engaged with community members—villagers, commuters, and drivers—to ensure the service met local needs. The project focused on service design, pricing, mobile payments, driver recruitment, and a loyalty program with social incentives. It also explored a solar charging station for sustainability.

Photo reportage on Digital inclusion: optimizing the potential of informal workers.

Conducted by Archipel&Co., this study explores digital inclusion in the informal economies of Ivory Coast, India, and Kenya. Through interviews, it captures diverse worker profiles, from the most precarious to well-established micro-entrepreneurs. My portraits highlight the individuals behind these businesses, offering a human perspective on their resilience and aspirations.
